Job summary

Family Development Services seeks a Nutrition and Wellness Coordinator to assess nutrition needs for Head Start children, families, staff, and facilities, and to develop menus that support program goals. You will coordinate the nutrition component, oversee CACFP participation, and ensure compliance across centers.

The role includes planning menus, monitoring food service quality, and educating families on nutrition and wellness while coordinating support for special dietary needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; master's degree preferred in Dietetics.
• Must meet American Dietetic Association educational/training requirements and maintain registered dietitian status.
• One year or more experience in community nutrition (0–6).
• Ability to work with adults and children from diverse backgrounds.
• Supervisory experience in a food service facility is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, review, and distribute monthly cycle menus meeting USDA, CACFP, and Head Start guidelines.
• Oversee food production, service, sanitation, and safety practices across centers.
• Coordinate CACFP participation, including applications, reimbursements, and staff training.
• Assess nutritional needs of children and coordinate support for special dietary needs.
• Develop and implement nutrition and wellness initiatives for children, families, and staff.
• Provide nutrition education and resources to parents, including families with special concerns.
• Train staff on food safety, USDA requirements, and family-style meals.
• Monitor nutrition budget and partner with supervisor to improve program quality.
• Participate in Health Services Advisory Committee and engage with partners.
• Prepare reports and support projects related to health and wellness.
