Job summary

The YMCA of Central Maryland is seeking a Head Start Assistant Teacher to work with classroom teachers, center administration, family advocates and families to implement curriculum and ensure safe, compliant operation of the program. You will support the health, welfare, and safety of children in the program and help create an environment that fosters holistic development for all children in care.

Qualifications

• Interest in the well-being and education of young children.
• Some prior early childhood experience.
• Ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates.
• Child Development Associate certification.
• 90 hour child care certification and 9 hours in communication.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with classroom teachers, center administration, family advocates and family members to implement curriculum.
• Ensure health, welfare, safety, and regulatory compliance for children in the program.
• Support development across social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative domains.
• Contribute to the broader mission of empowering youth and strengthening communities.
