Job summary

Waldo Community Action Partners seeks Classroom Substitutes to support Head Start classrooms in Belfast and Searsport, serving children birth to five and pregnant mothers. Starting wage is $16.00/hr with a $1,000 sign-on incentive and a monthly supplement based on Maine Roads to Quality tier.

The Substitute acts as a regular classroom or kitchen staff member, assisting with daily activities, meals, hygiene and supervision, while maintaining licensing standards and collaborating with teachers and

Qualifications

• Must pass a physical examination and TB screening.
• Adequate transportation, valid driver’s license and WCAP insurance requirements.
• Must meet WCAP’s background clearance requirements.
• Valid Criminal Record History Check through DOE.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Teacher and other staff in a cooperative manner.
• Assist Teacher in planning and implementing a daily program for groups of children.
• Greet children on arrival and departures; supervise classroom activities.
• Assist children with dressing, hygiene, meals, and safe outdoor play.
• Maintain confidentiality and report observations to the Teacher.
