Job summary

Penquis is hiring on-call/substitute staff for our Child Development Programs in Dover-Foxcroft, Bangor, Brewer, Millinocket and Rockland. This role provides flexible hours and practical classroom experience while supporting the development of children in our community.

Center Aide positions involve welcoming children, supervising activities, and maintaining a safe, respectful environment with occasional light cleaning. A background check is required and training is provided to new staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and up to 12 months of experience.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic math functions.

Responsibilities

• Greeting children, getting them settled into the facility.
• Assisting with classroom and playground supervision, and other daily activities related to the operation of the classroom, including light cleaning duties.

Center Aide Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and up to 12 months of experience.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic math functions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.

The rate of pay for this position starts at $17.00 per hour, and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
