Job summary

Action for Boston Community Development's Head Start program seeks a Teacher Assistant to support a teaching team in Jamaica Plain. You will assist with the care and education of preschool children and help implement Education Component objectives of the program.

The role requires a high school diploma and appropriate credentials (PCA, ECE, or CDA). Bilingual ability and familiarity with diverse, low-income families are valued. This is a permanent, full-time position with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Active Preschool PCA Credential; ECE Certificate or EEC Preschool Lead Teacher certified, or enrolled in a degree program.
• Bilingual ability where appropriate is preferred.
• Experience and sensitivity working with diverse, low-income families.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons.
• Participate in daily observations, home visits and parent conferences.
• Maintain records of observations and communications with families.
• Provide classroom coverage and support to Teacher or Lead Teacher.
• Adhere to confidentiality and program policies.
