Job summary

Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD) is seeking a Teacher Assistant for Head Start to support classroom activities, lesson planning, and family engagement in Jamaica Plain. The role involves assisting a Lead Teacher, promoting program mission, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies.

The ideal candidate holds a High School diploma or equivalent, a Preschool CDA Credential or related certification, and is willing to pursue additional credentials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Active Preschool CDA Credential; ECE Certificate or EEC Preschool Lead Teacher certified, or pursuing related degree.
• Enrolled in a CDA program to be completed within two years with preschool teaching experience.
• Bilingual in a language spoken by ABCD families preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide joyful, nurturing, safe, healthy environment for preschoolers.
• Participate in planning and development of developmentally-appropriate lesson plans.
• Maintain records of daily observations and communications with families.
• Support integration of developmentally appropriate IEPs for children with special needs.
• Assist in home visits and parent/teacher conferences as needed.
