Job summary

Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD) Head Start is hiring a Teacher Assistant to support teachers in a Head Start program in Dorchester. The role focuses on assisting with education components and group care for preschool children within a collaborative teaching team.

Responsibilities include planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities, conducting observations, and supporting family engagement and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Active Preschool Child Development Associate Credential; ECE Certificate or EEC Preschool Lead Teacher certification preferred or pursuing degree.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in daily observations of children.
• Assist with two home visits and three parent/teacher conferences per family per year.
• Develop and implement developmentally-appropriate lesson plans and activities.
• Develop and implement written Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children with special needs.
• Engage in record keeping of daily observations and communications with families.
• Participate in Team meetings.
