Job summary

Save the Children is seeking a Cook to play a key role in a large system of services for children and families. You will order, prepare, serve, and document meals and snacks, following USDA/CACFP standards and menus.

The role requires strong food safety discipline, careful record keeping, inventory control, and the ability to work across kitchens as needed. You will ensure sanitary, compliant food service operations and may supervise staff or volunteers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 3+ years in food service or related area.
• Demonstrated commitment to service to children and families.
• Knowledge of basic food preparation, kitchen operations and food safety requirements.
• Ability to work with staff, parents and families while maintaining confidentiality.
• Strong teamwork and customer service orientation.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals and snacks following menus and CACFP requirements.
• Accommodate special dietary needs; maintain records and confidentiality.
• Oversee inventory and storage of food, supplies and equipment.
• Ensure sanitation and safety standards in kitchen operations.
• Supervise staff or volunteers as needed and manage time effectively.
• Deliver meals to classrooms and support program operations.
