Job summary

Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc. is seeking a Manager of System Operations to lead the operations center team and oversee critical reliability, restoration, dispatching, and load control responsibilities. This role reports to the Director of Operations Support and guides Senior System Operators.

The manager will ensure disaster recovery readiness, supervise dispatch staff, coordinate after-hours activation, and maintain essential procedures and documentation for the electric system.

Qualifications

• Operate and interrogate the SCADA system.
• Develop and maintain up-to-date operational procedures and documentation.
• Coordinate after-hours activation of district offices during major events.

Responsibilities

• Monitor disaster recovery and emergency plans to ensure service integrity.
• Manage a 24/7/365 operations center and staffing for all situations.
• Supervise system operators and coordinate restoration efforts centrally.
• Assist system engineering and technical services in field support.
• Perform field inspections of substation and switching equipment.
• Ensure reliability and system performance reporting for compliance.
• Coordinate communications with managers for after-hours activation.
• Maintain communications with line superintendents and operations leaders.
• Operate central dispatch for crews and personnel.
• Operate and interrogate the SCADA system.
• Maintain lock-out/tag-out controls and daily logs.
• Develop and maintain switching orders and procedures.
• Coordinate transmission system activities with DE and other utilities.
• Maintain point of contact for all-related coordination.
