Job summary

Louisiana State University at Alexandria is seeking an Assistant Director of Student Accounting and Bursar to oversee cashiering operations and supervise staff within the Accounting Services window. The role requires strong knowledge of student finance, accuracy in reporting, and proactive customer service to assist students with refunds, balances, and payment plans across multiple campuses.

Eight hours per day, Monday through Friday, with the potential for additional hours as needed; benefits

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Significant working knowledge of student finance and accounting services.
• Proactive approach in assessing and meeting student needs.
• Ability to produce accurate reports, meet deadlines, and deliver quality work.
• Excellent social, communication, written, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cashiering operations and supervise staff/student workers at the Accounting Services window.
• Review and process student refunds weekly.
• Create and monitor Bursar hold lists monthly and apply to student accounts.
• Notify students of any past due balances owed to the University on a regular basis.
• Address complaints and resolve issues for students in a timely manner.
• Run global assessments on a regular basis and review student accounts for accuracy.
• Create and maintain codes in the University’s student information system for fees and scholarships.
• Create and maintain payment plans in Transact for each semester.
• Reconcile bookstore charges, international insurance, and course fees each semester.
