Louisiana State University of Alexandria (LSUA) is seeking an Assistant Director of Student Accounting and Bursar to oversee cashiering operations, refunds, holds, and balance communications. The role requires a strong accounting background, customer service focus, and collaboration with the Accounting Services team.

The position emphasizes accuracy in reporting, timely issue resolution, and process improvements for student finances across the semester.

Qualifications

• Experience in student finance and accounting services.
• Strong customer service orientation and professional communication.
• Ability to produce accurate reports and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work well within a broader team and show flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cashiering operations and supervise staff and student workers.
• Review and process student refunds weekly.
• Create and monitor bursar hold lists and apply to student accounts.
• Notify students of past due balances via email, text, or mail.
• Address complaints and resolve issues for students in a timely manner.
• Run global assessments and review student accounts for accuracy.
• Create and maintain fee and scholarship codes in the SIS for each semester.
• Create and maintain payment plans in Transact for each semester.
• Reconcile bookstore charges, international insurance, and course fees.
• Run daily lists to remove course/online fees for dual/SPERO students.
• Oversee reconciliation of athletic scholarships at semester starts/ends.
• Prepare weekly deposits for armored car pickup and coordinate changes.
• Maintain Petty Cash and cash handling for daily operations.
• Review tuition/fee appeal documentation and adjust accounts as needed.
• Assist in monitoring balance reminder lists and drop lists each semester.
• Assist with IRS data reporting (I 098-T) and address questions.
