Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks a senior leader to head the Structures Engineering team for the Blue Ring program. You will oversee design, analysis, and loads development for space vehicles and payloads, directing a diverse group of engineers across multiple configurations and missions.

You will mentor staff, manage performance reviews, and ensure on-time delivery of safe, reliable hardware meeting stringent requirements. U.S. citizenship or equivalent security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering.
• 5+ years of experience leading technical teams and/or functional groups.
• 8+ years of relevant industry experience in structural analysis and/or Loads & Dynamics.
• Broad knowledge of space vehicle systems and how they impact structural and mechanical design.
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, manage, and mentor a diverse and inclusive team of engineers responsible for Blue Ring structures engineering (design and analysis).
• Manage direct reports’ professional development and provide guidance.
• Direct and guide the team in development of primary and secondary structures.
• Oversee generation and communication of structural loads to support vehicle development and payloads.
• Lead development and anchoring of system and component loads, including modeling, simulation, and verification.
• Guide FE model development, validation, and correlation to test data.
• Own the business rhythm and communication with program leadership and reviews.
• Develop and maintain product roadmaps with internal and external customers.
