Job summary

DoorDash Labs seeks a Head of Safety, Robot Operations to lead safety vision for one of the world’s most advanced autonomous delivery operations. You’ll advance safety culture across fleet and depots, embedding safety into robot deployments, service management, and field operations.

You will partner with Operations, Engineering, Product, Hardware, Reliability, and Legal to proactively identify risks and scale safe operations globally, while building governance and continuous improvement programs.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience leading safety programs in high-reliability environments.
• Experience building enterprise-scale safety management systems.
• Strong risk management, hazard identification, incident investigation.
• Experience leading safety audits and governance programs.
• Ability to influence senior executives and cross-functional teams.
• Analytical with data-driven risk prediction.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous tech environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Safety, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the long-term safety strategy for autonomous robot operations.
• Develop safety management systems, policies, standards, SOPs, and governance mechanisms.
• Lead incident investigations, root-cause analyses, corrective actions, and lessons-learned programs.
• Own safety metrics, dashboards, KPIs, and executive reporting mechanisms.
• Lead emergency response, crisis management, and business continuity preparation.
• Maintain comprehensive audit programs to evaluate operational safety and facility readiness.
• Develop and execute simulated SEV0 incident exercises to validate response playbooks and escalation paths.
• Build and mentor a high-performing safety organization and drive continuous improvement.
