Job summary

Hire Point Recruiting is assisting a client in New Jersey to appoint a Director of Procurement to lead purchasing strategy, supplier management, and analytics that drive cost efficiency and reliable supply.

You will oversee sourcing, vendor negotiations, and team leadership, partnering with senior leadership to align procurement with business goals and inventory planning. This role emphasizes data-driven decisions and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, or related field required.
• MBA preferred for leadership track and strategic impact.
• Extensive procurement, sourcing, or purchasing experience evident.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
• Experience using ERP systems and analytics to support procurement activities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies that support business objectives, cost management, and operational needs.
• Lead sourcing, purchasing, and vendor management activities across the organization.
• Lead, develop, and provide direction to the procurement team.
• Build and maintain productive supplier relationships while monitoring pricing, service, quality, and delivery performance.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, agreements, and other commercial arrangements with suppliers.
• Identify and implement opportunities to reduce material costs and improve overall profitability.
• Establish greater consistency in purchasing practices by standardizing materials and increasing utilization of preferred suppliers.
• Oversee purchasing activities and improve planning practices to minimize unplanned or emergency purchases.
• Partner with appropriate business functions to maintain material availability while managing inventory levels effectively.
• Use procurement and operational data to evaluate purchasing performance, identify trends, measure savings, and support decision-making.
• Monitor key measures related to procurement savings, pricing variances, supplier utilization, delivery performance, emergency purchasing, and inventory efficiency.
• Establish and maintain procurement processes and practices that support efficient and consistent purchasing activities.
• Partner with senior leadership and other stakeholders on procurement priorities and broader business initiatives.
