Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Manager, Process Engineering - Assembly to lead a team of engineers in developing and releasing work instructions for the SPARC device assembly. You will drive strategy, optimize workflows, and collaborate with design and field teams to keep schedules and quality on track.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience with project ownership.
• 2+ years of experience managing an engineering team or large-scale project.
• 2+ years of experience with CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of eight to fifteen process engineers to develop, release and implement technical work instructions for SPARC Assembly.
• Translate department strategy into actionable group objectives and project timelines.
• Define and optimize process engineering workflows and internal standards for efficiency and outcomes.
• Oversee development of tracking tools to manage hundreds of planning tasks for SPARC Assembly.
• Establish best practices for mechanical assembly including alignment, installation, and rework.
• Hire, train and set clear performance expectations for the team.
• Mentor team members and contribute to their career growth.
• Collaborate across org to influence design and resolve conflicts with stakeholders.
• Provide design feedback to SPARC subsystem designs with a focus on manufacturability and assembly.
• Support hands-on operations during Tokamak Assembly across various roles.
• Work with teammates to ensure all requirements are met in high-load, complex environments.
