Commonwealth Fusion Systems LLC is seeking a Manager of Process Engineering - Assembly to lead a team of engineers in developing and releasing the detailed work instructions required to assemble the SPARC device. You will translate strategy into actionable goals and drive efficient processes with a focus on manufacturability.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with design and field teams, and guide tooling and workflow improvements for high-complexity assembly tasks.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 7+ years mechanical engineering experience with project ownership.
• 2+ years managing engineering teams or large projects as an individual contributor.
• 2+ years CAD experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of eight to fifteen process engineers to develop and release technical work instructions for SPARC assembly.
• Translate department strategy into actionable group objectives and timelines.
• Define and optimize process engineering workflows and internal standards for efficiency.
• Oversee development of tracking tools to manage hundreds of planning tasks for SPARC Assembly.
• Establish best practices for mechanical assembly, including alignment, installation, and rework.
• Manage talent: hiring, training, performance expectations, and mentoring.
• Provide design feedback to SPARC sub-systems focusing on manufacturability and assembly.
• Support hands-on operations during Tokamak Assembly across roles and teams.
