Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Lead Technician - Assembly to oversee procurement and execution of SPARC assembly activities. You will coordinate small technician teams, manage work orders, and lead on-site operations to ensure precise assembly of complex systems.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in technical assembly, substantial leadership experience, and strong knowledge of assembly methods and safety.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
7+ years in a highly technical assembly role (aerospace/semiconductor/oil & gas/power plants/wind/racing & automotive).
2–3 years overseeing a team of five or more.
Experience completing large-scale projects end to end.
Experience assisting lifting operations.
Knowledge of joining and integration methods (bolted interfaces and flanges, welding, epoxies).
Highly self-motivated, organized, and safety-conscious.

Responsibilities

Oversee and organize technician teams to conduct assembly activities per the schedule.
Review work orders covering mechanical, welding, electrical, and lifting tasks.
Participate in major on-site operations including big lifts and movements.
Inspect completed tasks with visual confirmation.
Provide daily status updates to the Assembly team.
Assign technicians to operations to support schedule priorities.
Coordinate with external teams to complete specialized sections on time.
Troubleshoot issues and implement workarounds to keep teams moving.
Notify Assembly Engineers of problems and non-conformance needs; coordinate with Assembly Testing.
Lead daily kick-off and shift-change meetings outlining agenda and safety.
Ensure all teams can work efficiently and safely.
