Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Manager, Process Engineering - Assembly to lead 8–15 engineers and oversee the creation and release of process work instructions for SPARC Tokamak assembly, driving efficiency and manufacturability.

You will mentor talent, coordinate with design and field teams, and ensure timely delivery of complex mechanical assemblies while maintaining safety and quality standards. Strong CAD NX experience is essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering.
• 7+ years mechanical engineering experience with project ownership.
• 2+ years experience directly managing an engineering team or a large scale engineering project.
• 3 years of experience with Siemens NX.
• Travel occasionally for vendor visits.
• Required onsite 5 days/week during assembly operations with relevant tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers to develop and release process work instructions for SPARC assembly.
• Translate department strategy into actionable group objectives and timelines.
• Define and optimize process engineering workflows and internal standards to improve solution outcomes and efficiency.
• Oversee the development of tracking and priority tools to manage hundreds of tasks for SPARC Assembly.
• Establish best practices for mechanical assembly, alignment, installation, and rework.
• Manage all aspects of the group’s talent, including hiring and performance expectations.
• Coach and mentor team members and contribute to their growth and development.
• Build relationships across the organization to influence design direction and resolve conflicts.
• Provide design feedback to SPARC sub-system designs focusing on manufacturing and assembly.
