Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking an engineer to co-own the assembly sequence for the SPARC workstation, starting with TF semicircle sub-assemblies. You will define scope for manifolds and magnet sub-assemblies, resolve fit and method issues with design teams, and procure tooling for upcoming ports.

You will own a process from testing to hand-off, contribute design feedback to sub-systems, and help resolve non-conformances.

Qualifications

B.S. in Civil, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering with 5 years' experience.
3+ years' mechanical engineering experience with project ownership.
2+ years' experience overseeing in-progress construction, manufacturing, or assembly.
2+ years' experience with CAD software.

Responsibilities

Co-own and be the expert in the assembly sequence of your workstation, starting with TF semicircle sub-assemblies.
Define new first-encounter work scope including installation of manifolds and magnet sub-assemblies.
Resolve assembly issues with design teams to meet function and manufacturability.
Proactively procure or build tools and fixtures for upcoming process ports.
Own a process by testing, implementing, and handing off to production technicians.
Provide design feedback to SPARC sub-system designs with manufacturing focus.
Assist in disposition of non-conformance and release updated assembly sequences.
Support hands-on operations during Tokamak Assembly across roles.
Collaborate with teammates to meet high-load, vacuum, and complex manipulation requirements.
