Job summary

Transamerica is seeking a Senior Director of Operational Accounting to establish and lead a high-performing center of excellence focused on accounting discipline, process rigor, and control effectiveness. You will oversee cash reconciliation, open-item aging, exposure monitoring, and collaboration with Finance, Risk, and Operations to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
• Generally 12+ years of experience in insurance accounting or related financial services.
• Experience leading suspense cleanup, reconciliation improvement, aging reduction, or related remediation initiatives.
• Demonstrated management/leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting and business areas.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage a large team and align priorities with business goals.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead an operational accounting center of excellence to drive consistent execution and governance.
• Ensure integrity and timeliness of accounting and financial reporting information, incl. cash activity and reconciliation quality.
• Monitor cash and suspense reconciliation open items, aging, exposure, and remediation progress.
• Identify operational gaps and control weaknesses from reconciliation results and drive improvements.
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Risk and Internal Controls to resolve accounting matters.
• Develop financial reports and complex models for forecasting and analysis.
• Lead adherence to internal control framework and conduct staff development.
