Job summary

Transamerica is seeking a senior leader to establish and guide a high-performing operational accounting center of excellence. You will oversee cash and suspense reconciliation governance, open item aging, exposure monitoring, and related processes, partnering with Finance, Risk, Internal Controls, and Operations to ensure accuracy and compliance.

This role drives reporting, modeling, and decision support, leads a large team, aligns priorities with enterprise standards, and champions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 12+ years of accounting experience in insurance/financial services.
• Experience leading suspense cleanup, reconciliation improvement, aging reduction, exposure management, or related operational accounting remediation initiatives.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Extensive knowledge of applicable accounting and business areas.
• Ability to communicate effectively to all audiences.
• Ability to lead a large team to meet business goals.
• Forward thinker able to anticipate future needs and challenges.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management skills.
• Effective judgment and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead an operational accounting center of excellence to drive execution, accountability, governance, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure integrity and completeness of accounting and financial reporting information, with emphasis on cash, suspense, reconciliation quality, and aging.
• Drive monitoring of cash and suspense open items, including aging, exposure, root-cause themes and remediation progress.
• Identify operational gaps, control weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement from reconciliation results.
• May approve legal, regulatory, or company documents.
• Review analyses to propose recommendations to senior management.
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Risk, and Internal Controls to resolve matters and strengthen controls.
• Develop strategic direction for the department and manage the departmental budget.
• Embed a culture of accountability, innovation, teamwork, and customer centricity.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in accounting

CPA/advanced degree
