Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Generally 12+ years of experience in insurance accounting or financial services.
• Experience leading suspense cleanup, reconciliation improvement, aging reduction, or exposure management.
• Demonstrated management/leadership experience.
• Extensive knowledge of accounting and business areas.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing to all audiences.
• Ability to lead a large group of employees to meet goals.
• Forward thinker able to anticipate future needs and challenges.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management skills.
• Effective judgment and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead an operational accounting center of excellence.
• Ensure integrity and completeness of accounting and financial reporting information, especially cash activity and suspense accounting.
• Drive monitoring of cash reconciliation open items, aging, exposure, and remediation progress.
• Identify gaps, control weaknesses, and improvement opportunities from reconciliation results.
• May authorize and approve legal, regulatory, or company documents.
• Review analyses to propose recommendations to senior management.
• Partner with Operations, Finance, Risk, and Internal Controls to resolve accounting matters and align processes with standards.
• Develop financial reports and models for forecasting and analysis.
• Lead adherence to internal control framework and monitor exposures.
• Oversee hiring, coaching, and performance of staff.
• Align staff goals with business priorities and risk reduction objectives.
• Collaborate on organizational strategy and policy while managing risks.
• Develop department strategy and manage budget.
• Embed a culture of accountability and customer centricity.
