Job summary

OpenAI in Mountain View, CA seeks a Manager to build and lead a high‑performing Applied AI Engineering team serving enterprise customers. You will drive technical success across product‑oriented partnerships and scalable deployments.

You will coach engineers on architecture, model evaluation, and production rollout, partner with Sales, Product, and Security, and develop reusable patterns that turn field insights into durable value.

Qualifications

• Experience leading customer-facing technical teams.
• Proven ability to design and deploy enterprise AI systems.
• Strong technical depth in ML/AI architectures and evaluations.
• Experience taking AI systems from prototype to production.
• Ability to balance technical depth with business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Build, manage, and develop a high-performing team of Applied AI Engineers for enterprise customers.
• Own the quality and impact of the team’s work across design, production readiness, adoption, and expansion.
• Coach engineers on architecture decisions, model selection, reliability, safety, and cost.
• Establish an operating model for prioritizing accounts and engagements by value and complexity.
• Serve as a senior technical escalation point during launches, incidents, and complex integrations.
• Partner with customer executives to translate implementation decisions into measurable outcomes.
• Help customers progress from experimentation to production systems and sustained adoption.
