Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an Enterprise Applied AI Engineer to partner with leading organizations to design, build, and deploy AI systems that deliver measurable business outcomes. You will combine deep technical judgment with hands-on engineering to move ideas from use-case selection through prototyping, evaluation, production launch, and scale.

This role is based in our SF or NYC office with a hybrid model of 3 days in the office per week and relocation assistance for new employees.

Qualifications

• Design, build, and deploy AI systems in enterprise environments.
• Take systems from prototype to production with measurable business impact.
• Translate deployment experience into product feedback and improvements.

Responsibilities

• Partner with enterprise customers to translate opportunities into architectures, plans, evaluation strategies, and success criteria.
• Design, build, and deploy AI systems that solve real customer problems and drive measurable outcomes.
• Write code, build evaluation harnesses, reference implementations, and production accelerators.
• Make sound decisions across models, data, reliability, latency, cost, safety, security, and governance.
• Diagnose issues, reproduce failures, test hypotheses, and drive blockers to resolution.
• Help customers progress from prototypes to reliable production systems and ongoing adoption.
• Collaborate with customer engineers and OpenAI teams to feedback deployment insights into product direction.
• Create reusable architectures, tooling, and guidance for future deployments.
