Job summary

Giga is seeking a Director of Operations to own the day-to-day reliability, staffing, maintenance, and performance of its data centers. You will implement standardized operating practices across the portfolio and manage cross-site teams and vendor relationships.

This remote role requires 10+ years in facility or data center ops, with 5+ years leading multi-site teams, and a strong background in MEP systems, uptime, and operational risk communication. Expect ~20–25% travel to facilities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in facility or data center operations
• Experience owning uptime, maintenance, and staffing for mission-critical facilities
• Track record scaling an operations function across a growing portfolio
• Strong knowledge of MEP and electrical systems in data centers (generators, UPS, switchgear, cooling, BMS)
• Experience managing multi-site budgets and vendor contracts
• Experience presenting to executive stakeholders on operational risk and performance
• Direct experience running operations at hyperscale or co-location data centers
• Experience partnering with commissioning teams on turnover and handoff
• Familiarity with CMMS or facility ops platforms
• Experience scaling operations in high-growth startups or similar environments

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day operational performance across live data center facilities, including uptime, maintenance execution, and incident response
• Build and enforce the operating standard across all facilities: staffing models, maintenance schedules, escalation procedures, performance benchmarks
• Manage facility operations teams and site leads across multiple locations
• Own vendor and service provider relationships tied to ongoing operations, including contract performance and SLAs
• Lead root cause analysis and resolution for operational incidents and update standards to prevent recurrence
• Own the operations budget across the portfolio and guide staffing decisions as facilities come online
• Report on operational health, risk, and performance to executive leadership across the portfolio
• Partner with commissioning and construction teams to ensure clean handoffs from new facilities into steady-state ops
• Drive continuous improvement in operating procedures as the facility portfolio scales
