Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to guide the Automation & Controls team while collaborating with engineering to drive continuous innovation and manufacturing optimization. This role provides strategic input to capital planning and supports production facilities across locations.

You will lead and develop teams, ensure safety and process improvements, and maintain high integrity in controls systems as part of a broader portfolio of corporate initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple manufacturing locations.
• Proven leadership experience (direct or indirect).
• Proven ability to build relationships and partnerships.
• Working knowledge of CAD, HMI development, PLCs, G-Suite, and advanced diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead all functions of the Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to 3- and 5-year capital plans for manufacturing facilities.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, and R&D to integrate Automation and Controls team.
• Manage capital projects, budgets, and financial reporting for the team.
• Oversee engineering practices and ensure proper documentation and safety standards.
