Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to lead the Automation & Controls team with engineering collaboration to drive continuous innovation and manufacturing optimization. This role provides strategic input to capital planning and ensures operational support for production facilities.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in manufacturing, strong leadership across multiple sites, and deep knowledge of automation systems, CAD, HMI, PLCs, and related software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
• Proven experience leading a team, directly or indirectly.
• Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships.
• Knowledge of CAD, HMI, PLCs, G-Suite and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to 3- and 5-year capital plans.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Eng., R&D to integrate automation.
• Manage financials: capital projects, budgets, reporting.
• Define and implement software across automation team.
• Ensure documentation and safety standards are followed.
