Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to lead the Automation & Controls team, partner with engineering, and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing facilities. The role focuses on strategic capital planning, cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring safe, efficient operations.

Responsibilities include financial oversight, project execution, and advancing engineering practices while maintaining alignment with corporate engineering and R&D initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• 10+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
• Proven leadership experience, direct or indirect.
• Proven ability to build relationships and partnerships.
• Knowledge of CAD, HMI development, PLCs, G-Suite, and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all functions of the Automation & Controls group.
• Contribute to 3- and 5-year capital plans for facilities.
• Integrate Automation with IT, Process Services, and R&D teams.
• Manage capital projects, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Ensure documentation and safety standards across projects.
• Lead and develop the Automation & Controls team.
