Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to lead the Automation & Controls group, partnering with engineering to drive innovation and manufacturing optimization. You will influence capital planning, align with cross-functional teams, and maintain production support across facilities.

The role requires strong leadership, a track record of delivering complex automation projects, and a commitment to safety and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
• 10+ years of manufacturing experience
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations
• Proven leadership of a team (direct/indirect)
• Proven relationship building and partnerships
• Working knowledge of CAD, HMI development, PLCs, G-Suite, and advanced diagnostic tools

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to 3 & 5 year capital plans for manufacturing facilities.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, and R&D to integrate Automation and Controls into GAF/Standard Industries.
• Manage capitalized projects, budgets, and financial reporting for the team.
• Identify and implement Automation and Controls software with operations systems.
• Shape engineering practices and mitigate obsolescence in controls systems; ensure documentation is current.
• Provide leadership and foster a collaborative, customer-focused work environment.
• Promote safety excellence and ensure compliance with corporate safety standards.
