Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools is seeking a Head Basketball Coach for Girls to plan and direct the girls basketball program. You will instruct athletes in fundamentals, cultivate character, and ensure coaching staff is certified and cleared to participate.

Special notes include a board-approved stipend of $8,000 and required background checks. The position is finite per the Students First Act, with pro-rated salary for remaining contract days.

Qualifications

• Alabama Teacher’s Certification preferred or equivalent qualifications.
• Previous sports experience preferred but not required.
• Completion of AHSAA Coaches’ Education Program.
• Must have or be willing to obtain CDL.

JOB DESCRIPTION: HEAD BASKETBALL COACH GIRLS

Qualifications

• Current Alabama Teacher’s Certification (preferred) or classified dependent upon qualifications of the person holding the position
• Previous Experience in sports as a participant and/or coach (preferred) but not required
• Completion of all requirements set forth by the AHSAA Coaches’ Education Program
• Must have or be willing to obtain CDL

Essential Duties

• Plan, organize, and direct the Basketball program
• Instruct athletes in fundamentals, develop character, model expected behavior
• Ensures that all coaches in the basketball program are certified and cleared
• Ensures that student-athletes practicing or playing have been cleared through the Athletic Director
• Attend the AHSAA sponsored rules clinic for his/her sports
• Board Approved Stipend $8,000.

The funding for and duration of this position are finite, Pursuant to the Students First Act of 2011, Section 4(3)(b), tenure may not be gained by time served in this position.

SPECIAL NOTE: The person selected for this position must agree to a background check, be fingerprinted, and pay a $46.20 fee. This is required by law.

SPECIAL NOTE: For employees starting work after the beginning date of the work term, the salary will be pro-rated and based on the number of contract days left in the school year, divided by the remaining months in the contract year.
