Job summary

Republic Services in Anchorage, AK seeks a HazMat Field Driver/Technician to transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste, operating Class A tractors and a range of trailers. The schedule is Monday–Friday with potential overnight shifts, depending on routes and customer needs.

The role emphasizes strict safety, DOT/HazMat compliance, and accurate documentation, including pre/post trip checks and waste manifests. A CDL with HazMat/Tanker endorsements and HAZWOPER training is required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift heavy objects.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Must be able to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate trucks which may include roll-offs, tankers, gravel trains, tractor-trailers, box trucks, etc.
• Performs LTL (less than load) pickups.
• Maintains driver documents, such as logbook, quarterly permit book, trip reports, waste manifests, etc.
• Complies with DOT regulations for hazardous waste collection, packaging and transportation, including placarding, loading, securing, segregation, and labeling.
• Understands state weight limit laws and adheres to them.
• Operates vehicle safely and lawfully.
• Uses company tech such as mobile apps for maintenance as directed.
• Performs DOT/MOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
