Job summary

Clean Harbors in Sylmar, CA is seeking a Field Services Technician I to join our safety conscious team. This role will be active in the field responsible for the performance of tasks associated with hazardous waste clean-up, site-remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials.

Starting pay is $22/hr with benefits including health coverage after 30 days, 401K with company match, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and clean MVR.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to perform physical functions per Key Responsibilities.
• Emergency response on-call; may work weekends/holidays; on-call rotating schedule.
• Perform physical functions per job requirements.
• Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical as required by position.
• OSHA Respiratory Protection standard – facial hair restrictions apply for respirator use.
• Previous relevant labor experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority by following policies and acting safely.
• Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
• Operate light and heavy equipment and hand/powered tools; use vibration-producing tools.
• Wear and use PPE properly, including respirators and protective gear.
• Work in various temperatures indoors/outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Work in environments with exposure to hazardous or corrosive agents.
• Work in high noise levels, confined spaces, and at elevations on ladders/scaffolding.
• Assist in field sampling activities and meter calibration.
• Climb ladders/scaffolding and access trucks, tanks, and containers.
• Work extended hours (>8 hours) as needed; on-call for emergency response on rotating basis.
