Job summary

The Mortgage Law Firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to represent creditor clients in Hawaii across pre-litigation, settlement, foreclosure, bankruptcy, eviction, and light litigation matters. The role involves travel to Circuit Court and U.S.

District Court and remote appearances when appropriate. Responsibilities include managing high-volume caseloads, preparing filings, attending hearings, intake analysis, and timely communication with clients.

Qualifications

• This position requires a Juris Doctorate and Hawaii Bar license in good standing.
• Proficiency with Westlaw and time-billing software is required.
• 5+ years of experience as an associate attorney is expected.
• Background in foreclosure, title, and/or bankruptcy is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• A valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed are required.

Responsibilities

• Manage a high-volume individual caseload across pre-litigation, settlement, foreclosure, bankruptcy, eviction, and light litigation.
• Prepare letters, pleadings, motions, discovery, and other filings; advocate at hearings.
• Attend court hearings, mediations, and other proceedings in person or remotely as required.
• Conduct initial intake and strategy analysis on new cases and research applicable law.
• Make tactical decisions under supervision guidelines.
• Communicate case strategy and updates to clients; provide responsive client service.
• Meet all filing and court deadlines.
• Record billable time accurately.
• Collaborate with the TMLF team on internal case processing, reporting, and tracking.
• Pursue continued learning, including CLEs.
• Assist with other tasks as assigned by the Managing Attorney
