Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Hardware Engineer II to help design, qualify, and scale next-gen server platforms powering Akamai Cloud and CDN. You will test hardware components, validate performance, and contribute to reliability and quality across engineering and manufacturing teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on hardware bring-up, scripting for test automation, and staying current with networking and storage standards. Cambridge office attendance is required five days a week.

Qualifications

• 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or related field.
• Understanding of computer architecture, server hardware components, firmware and OS.
• Experience with Linux environments and scripting (Bash or Python).
• Hands-on experience with embedded systems and debugging with lab tools.
• Experience with Ethernet, TCP/IP, PCIe, NVMe, DDR and GPU architectures.
• Strong problem solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Test next-generation server hardware platforms and components for performance, power and reliability.
• Document and report results, identify defects and recommend improvements.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware issues with engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance test scripts for current and upcoming hardware features.
• Keep up to date with computing, networking, storage, and hardware acceleration standards.
