Insight Global is hiring a Hardware Engineer II to design, test, and validate next‑generation server hardware for Akamai’s CDN and Cloud Compute platforms. The role is hands‑on, focusing on testing components for performance, power and reliability, and debugging hardware issues with OEM/ODM partners from development through deployment.

Formación

• 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering or related field.
• Understanding of computer architecture and server hardware components, firmware and operating systems.
• Experience with Linux environments and scripting, ideally Bash or Python.
• Hands-on embedded systems experience with debugging using lab tools.
• Experience with Ethernet, TCP/IP, PCIe, NVMe, DDR and GPU architectures.

Job Description:

This Hardware Engineer II will work on the design, testing, and validation of next-generation server hardware supporting Akamai’s CDN and Cloud Compute platforms. The role is very hands-on and will focus on testing server components for performance, power, and reliability, troubleshooting hardware issues, developing test scripts, and working with internal teams and OEM/ODM manufacturing partners to bring new server platforms from development through deployment. The ideal candidate will have strong server hardware and computer architecture knowledge, Linux and Bash or Python scripting experience, hands-on embedded systems debugging experience, and familiarity with technologies including Ethernet, TCP/IP, PCIe, NVMe, DDR, and GPU architectures.

Must-Haves:

• 5+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or a related field
• Demonstrate an understanding of computer architecture, server hardware components, firmware and operating systems.
• Have experience with Linux environments and scripting, ideally with Bash or Python
• Have hands-on experience with embedded systems and debugging with lab tools
• Have experience with standards, protocols and related technologies such as: Ethernet, TCP/IP, PCIe, NVMe, DDR and GPU architectures

Day-to-Day:

• Testing next-generation server hardware platforms and components for performance, power and reliability.
• Documenting and reporting results, identifying defects and recommending improvements.
• Diagnosing and resolving hardware issues in both engineering and manufacturing environments in collaboration with internal and external teams.
• Developing, maintaining, and enhancing test scripts to validate existing and upcoming hardware features.
• Keeping up to date with new computing, networking, storage and hardware acceleration technology standards.
