Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Hardware Engineer II in Cambridge, MA to design, test and bring up next‑generation server platforms for Akamai's Cloud compute. The role focuses on validating hardware components, debugging issues, and developing scripts for automated tests.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of hardware experience, strong knowledge of computer architecture, Linux, and embedded systems, with hands-on tool usage. On-site work in Cambridge is required five days a week.

Qualifications

• 5 years of relevant hardware engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of computer architecture and server hardware components.
• Experience with Linux environments and scripting (Bash or Python).
• Hands-on experience with embedded systems and debugging with lab tools.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, PCIe, NVMe, DDR and GPU architectures.

Responsibilities

• Test and validate next-generation server hardware platforms and components for performance and reliability.
• Document results, report defects, and suggest improvements.
• Diagnose hardware issues in engineering and manufacturing environments with internal/external teams.
• Develop and maintain test scripts to validate hardware features.
