Job summary

Ramp is seeking a Tech Lead & Manager for Production Engineering in the United States. You will be a hands-on player-coach leading a team that owns systems end-to-end, from compute and storage to observability, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and fast delivery.

You will drive architectural change, partner with product teams, and guide engineers to build the next level of Ramp’s infrastructure. This role emphasizes leadership, ownership, and delivering enterprise-grade resilience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record shipping high-quality architectures for critical systems.
• Staff+-level technical leadership: setting direction and leading multi-quarter initiatives.
• Hands-on engineering with production code, reviews, and debugging incidents.
• Experience building and operating distributed systems at production scale.
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred).
• Familiarity with observability, reliability practices, and incident response.
• Delivery through cross-functional coordination and stakeholder alignment.
• Comfort with AI tooling and coding agents to accelerate engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Build, coach, and grow a high-performing team with clear feedback and ownership.
• Set technical direction for the team’s domain and drive high-leverage work.
• Build and operate critical infrastructure across Ramp’s compute, storage, messaging, and observability stacks.
• Lead architectural changes and own the path forward to fix reliability and scalability issues.
• Partner with product teams during design to ensure correct implementation from the start.
• Contribute hands-on to our cellular architecture shift to enable international scale.
• Advance AI-native engineering by defining golden paths for reuse.
• Develop developer tooling and self-service infrastructure for cost and performance visibility.
• Participate in on-call rotation and drive root-cause analysis to closure.
• Lead cross-team architectural reviews and company-wide reliability initiatives.
