Job summary

Ramp is seeking a Production Engineer who will own critical infrastructure end-to-end, including compute, storage, messaging, and observability. You will drive architectural changes, partner with product teams, and push for scalable, reliable systems that power Ramp’s financial transactions at scale.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience shipping high-quality architectures for critical systems.
• Familiarity with observability practices (SLOs, error budgets, alerting, dashboards).
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and production-grade code quality.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems at production scale.
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred).
• Contributions to developer experience or internal platform tooling.
• Experience with cellular or multi-tenant architecture patterns.
• Experience in fintech, payments, or regulated industries (FedRAMP, SOC 2).
• Prior work on workflow orchestration systems (Temporal).

Responsibilities

• Build and operate critical infrastructure across Ramp’s compute, storage, messaging, and observability stack.
• Drive architectural change, own the path forward and coordinate owners across teams.
• Partner with product teams at the design phase to embed robust patterns.
• Scale Ramp’s infrastructure with a focus on reliability and international reach.
• Enable AI-native engineering by defining reusable foundations and patterns.
• Develop tooling and self-service infrastructure for cost, performance, and reliability visibility.
• Participate in on-call rotation and drive root-cause analysis to prevention.
• Lead cross-team architectural reviews and ownership of company-wide reliability initiatives.
