Job summary

Fluor Corporation in Mount Pleasant, SC is seeking a Product/Manufacturing/Production Planning Engineer to support launch and scale-up of manufacturing operations. The role blends manufacturing/process engineering with production planning, capacity planning, material flow, ERP/MRP discipline, and shop-floor support.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams and apply Lean methods to improve throughput, quality, and performance while developing work instructions and training for operators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or related engineering field.
• Hands-on manufacturing experience in a ramp-up environment.
• Experience with ERP/MRP, material flow and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and ownership mindset.
• Comfortable working directly on the production floor.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve production processes, routings, work instructions, and standard work.
• Develop production capacity plans aligned with orders and equipment.
• Support ERP/MRP and data accuracy for materials, routing, inventory, and scheduling.
• Analyze material flow, bottlenecks, labor utilization, throughput, and lead times; implement improvements.
• Support equipment commissioning, process validation, layout optimization, and new capability.
• Collaborate with operations, logistics, engineering, sales/project teams and European resources.
• Apply Lean/continuous improvement and establish shop-floor performance controls.
• Provide hands-on technical support to operators and help develop training and standards.

Summary

Hands-on engineering role supporting the launch and scale-up of manufacturing operations in Charleston. The position combines manufacturing/process engineering with production and capacity planning, material flow, ERP/MRP discipline, work instructions, quality and direct shop-floor support.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve production processes, routings, work instructions, standard work and manufacturing documentation.

• Develop production, capacity and resource plans aligned with incoming orders, equipment capability and required delivery dates.

• Support ERP/MRP and production-data accuracy, including materials, routings, inventory, scheduling and manufacturing status.

• Analyze material flow, bottlenecks, labor utilization, throughput, quality and lead-time performance; implement practical improvements.

• Support equipment commissioning, process validation, layout optimization and introduction of additional manufacturing capability.

• Partner with operations, logistics, engineering, sales/project teams and European technical resources to resolve production and product issues.

• Apply Lean / continuous-improvement methods and establish measurable shop-floor performance controls.

• Provide hands-on technical support to operators and help develop training, quality checks and repeatable production standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Process Engineering or a closely related discipline; strong recent graduates may be considered.

• Manufacturing, process, production-planning or industrial-engineering experience in a hands-on environment.

• Working knowledge of production planning, capacity planning, ERP/MRP, material flow and manufacturing documentation.

• Strong problem-solving, communication and ownership mindset; comfortable working directly on the production floor.

• Ability to operate effectively in a startup/ramp-up environment where processes and systems are still being built.

Preferred Background

• Advanced manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, fabricated products, architectural products, glass, aluminum, millwork orconfigurable assembly.

• Lean / Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, quality systems, line balancing, time studies or continuous improvement.

• Experience with CNC/fabrication/assembly equipment and production-system implementation.
