Job summary

S.E.T., Inc. is seeking a hands-on Foreman to direct daily field work for a crew on heavy highway and civil projects across Ohio and Western PA. This role involves operating equipment, coordinating with surveyors, and ensuring safety compliance while meeting project schedules.

The Foreman will lead a crew, read plans, and ensure quality control. Union or non-union status may apply depending on assignment and project needs, with opportunities for training and advancement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of heavy highway or civil construction with prior lead-hand or foreman experience preferred.
• Ability to read plans, cut sheets, and grade stakes; catch errors before rework.
• Proven ability to lead a crew with clear communication and fair enforcement of standards.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily work of crew of laborers/operators; assign tasks and sequence work to stay on schedule.
• Read plans, specs, and grade information; coordinate layout with surveyors/engineers.
• Enforce safety program in the field; conduct daily huddles and PPE compliance.
• Track daily production, materials, equipment hours, and crew time; complete daily reports.
• Coordinate with Superintendent/PM on schedule, manpower, and material deliveries.
• Communicate with subcontractors, utility companies, and inspectors on site.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate crew; address performance issues per policy.
• Maintain quality to meet contract specs and pass inspections on first try.
• Secure tools/equipment/materials; keep site organized.
