Job summary

Toyota Material Handling North America (TMHNA) is seeking an Automation Software Engineering Co-op for in-person work at our Greene, NY office. You will develop algorithms, work with sensor data, and collaborate across engineering teams on driver assistance system projects.

The role emphasizes hands-on testing in our lab, mentorship from senior engineers, and exposure to ROS2 tools, embedded systems, and automation hardware.

Qualifications

• GPA of at least 3.0
• Enrolled in a degree program in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related field
• Excellent C++ and Python programming skills
• Experience with Linux based development environments
• Experience with hardware interfaces for automation sensors
• Co-op Term options: Spring & Summer 2027, Summer 2027, or Summer & Fall 2027

Responsibilities

• Develop algorithms to process sensor data for system integration across project components
• Analyze sensor data and guide design and implementation decisions
• Use simulation tools for proof-of-concept work before real-world implementation
• Create and update technical documentation, test plans, results, and project reports
• Work in a team to complete milestones with quality while managing schedule and cost
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, test, and software engineers across teams
• Gain hands-on experience in the test lab with real hardware
