Job summary

Toyota Material Handling North America in Greene, New York is seeking an Automation Software Engineer to design, develop, and integrate high-performance software for autonomous systems, robotics, and computer vision in material handling equipment.

You will work with software, embedded, robotics, ML, electrical, and mechanical engineers to build scalable solutions, implement ROS2 and DDS-based components, and mentor peers while advancing safety-critical automation technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics or related field.
• 2+ years of professional software development experience in C++, Python, C#, or OO languages.
• Experience with Git and Linux-based development environments.
• Hands-on hardware interface experience (cameras, LiDAR, embedded controllers, robotic platforms).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate high-performance software components for real-time data processing and logging.
• Develop software using ROS2, DDS for robotics and autonomous systems.
• Collaborate with software, embedded, robotics, ML, electrical, and mechanical engineers to deliver solutions.
• Lead development of software components and address architectural challenges.
• Develop algorithms for operator assistance, robotics, CV, and safety-critical automation.
• Integrate software with cameras, LiDAR, sensors, and robotic hardware.
