Job summary

Hotel Carmichael in Carmel, IN is seeking a Host Person to warmly welcome guests, manage the waitlist, and guide guests to their tables with a friendly demeanor. This non-exempt role requires knowledge of OpenTable, strong menu knowledge, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced dining room.

At least 1 year of restaurant or customer service experience is preferred, with a High School Diploma or GED. You will work with the Restaurant Manager in our Food & Beverage team, upholding cleanliness

Qualifications

• Fluency in reading, writing, and spoken English.
• Excellent personal presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
• Ability to think and prioritize in high pressure situations.
• Basic knowledge of the restaurant’s menu, ingredients, and events.
• Knowledgeable of basic sanitation.
• Knowledgeable of computer operations and ordering procedures.
• Ability to absorb large amounts of information quickly: menus and floor plan.
• Able to successfully multitask and work varied shifts including weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and manage the waitlist and seating chart.
• Use OpenTable to take reservations and seat guests.
• Know daily menus and guest preferences.
• Balance seating and flow across service stations.
• Oversee dining room during service and communicate with staff.
• Answer phones and take reservations.
• Resolve guest service issues promptly and report to the manager.
• Process checks and handle cash with accuracy.
• Maintain workstation cleanliness and staff readiness.
• Ensure host stand is always staffed.
• Communicate guest preferences to the service team.
• Notify management of seating delays.
• Assist servers as needed to maintain service efficiency.
• Wear the required uniform and maintain professionalism.
• Adhere to policies and standards with teamwork.
