Job summary

University of California - Santa Cruz is seeking a Visitor Hospitality Manager for the Seymour Marine Discovery Center. You will lead a student team at the front desk and exhibit hall, delivering warm, inclusive service and coordinating training and schedules.

You will partner with the Revenue & Retail Manager to align sales with service, oversee admissions and shop operations, and ensure safety and guest satisfaction. This role is on-site on the UCSC campus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and/or equivalent experience or training.
• Experience supervising or coaching frontline staff in a visitor-facing role (hospitality, museum, retail, education, or similar).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to create inclusive and positive guest interactions.

Responsibilities

• Lead frontline staff, hire, onboard, schedule, and supervise a team of student employees.
• Design training protocols in hospitality, visitor engagement, and guest communication.
• Act as Manager on Duty 4-5 days per week during open hours and handle visitor services issues.
