Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies seeks a friendly Cashier/Checker to greet customers and provide outstanding service at the Prosper store. You will process transactions quickly, operate the POS system, and handle diverse payment methods while following loss-prevention and safety policies.

Applicants should have customer service experience and good math skills; prior bagger experience is a plus. Training is provided and teamwork is emphasized to ensure a positive shopping experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum Position Qualifications: Customer service experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers at the checkout area.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system and handle tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons).
• Adhere to company policies on cash shortages/overages and loss prevention.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety guidelines.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify management; perform preventive maintenance on equipment as needed.
• Create a welcoming environment and assist customers with product questions.
