Job summary

Kroger Co. is hiring a Cashier/Checker to create an outstanding customer experience in our Sandusky store. You will greet customers, process transactions quickly and accurately, and operate the POS system while following company policies and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience required.
• Strong communication skills required.
• Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, subtraction) required.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers.
• Process transactions quickly and accurately.
• Understand POS system and handle tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit/Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons).
• Adhere to cash handling limits and prevent loss.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs and report hazards to management.
• Inspect equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Create a welcoming environment and answer product questions.
