Job summary

Kroger Co. in Ohio is seeking a friendly Cashier/Checker to create outstanding customer experiences in-store. You will greet customers, assist with questions, and handle fast, accurate checkout using our POS system.

This role requires precise cash handling, knowledge of tenders, adherence to sale restrictions, and a commitment to food safety and loss prevention. You’ll help customers find products and maintain a welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills required.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers.
• Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand POS system and handle cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, coupons and loyalty offers.
• Adhere to cash handling limits and protect against loss.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for stamps, gift cards and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations.
• Reinforce safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and report items in need of repair.
• Create a welcoming environment by answering questions about products.
• Adhere to all laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment.
• Manage conflict calmly and effectively.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Support minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
