Job summary

City Net is seeking a Guest Engagement Associate (Swing Shift) for an onsite role at a low-threshold interim housing site in Anaheim. You will assist with program support, coordinate meals and services, and maintain a safe environment through empathetic engagement and conflict de-escalation.

The role demands strong boundaries, high empathy for unhoused guests, and excellent communication with clients, staff, volunteers, and partners. Swing shift is Fri-Mon, 3:00 pm–11:30 pm, onsite.

Qualifications

• Excellent professional boundaries.
• High level of empathy and understanding for people experiencing homelessness and presenting with multiple and urgent case management needs, substance use, health, and/or mental health concerns.
• High levels of responsibility, dependability, and positive attitude.
• Respectful and effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, planning, and organization skills.
• Experience cultivating and maintaining productive relationships with clients, coworkers, volunteers, third-party vendors, etc.
• Understanding of marginalized communities and homelessness.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and verify on-site scheduled meals, supportive services, events, and volunteers; prepare and serve meals when providers are unavailable.
• Communicate meal and service schedules to guests; assist Case Managers, Security, and Leadership with announcements.
• Replenish and organize supplies; light cleaning.
• Perform crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
• Cultivate professional relationships with stakeholders including clients, coworkers, volunteers, and vendors.
• Greet, engage, and assist meal/service providers during shifts; assist with setup and cleanup tasks.
• Receive, organize, and distribute donations.
• Facilitate donation receipts and meet data recording requirements.
• Organize and maintain inventory of City Net storage; report needs to staff.
• Make copies and replenish City Net forms.
• Distribute meal packs when meals are short or groups cancel.
• Check and reply to shelter emails professionally and promptly.
