Job summary

DESC seeks energized Residential Counselors to support residents in a Permanent Supportive Housing setting on the Swing shift (12pm-8:30pm). Responsibilities include assisting clinical staff, coordinating services, promoting on-site activities, and maintaining safety and documentation.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of homelessness and related populations.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work with clients displaying a wide range of behaviors.
• Commitment to cooperation and respect across programs and clients.

Responsibilities

• Interact with residents in common areas and milieu.
• Assist clinical staff in coordinating services for residents.
• Engage residents with creative, resourceful strategies to build trust.
• Promote and facilitate on-site activities and support groups.
• Oversee building operations in the absence of staff.
• Greet visitors, answer phones, monitor security systems.
• Monitor safety and enforce project rules.
• Respond to emergencies and crises as needed.
• Document significant events in daily logs.
