Job summary

Black Construction Corporation, a Tutor Perini Company, seeks an Environmental Specialist in Guam to support onsite environmental tasks under the Environmental Manager. You will apply environmental engineering principles to prevent, control and remediate issues, including erosion control and waste-related activities, and contribute to project regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include inspecting and maintaining controls, documenting performance, and preparing reports and summaries.

Qualifications

• High School graduate with at least two years of training including on-the-job and informal training in erosion control, biological monitoring and natural resources.
• Installation, inspection/monitoring and repair of environmental controls such as silt fences and sandbags.
• Proficient in written and oral communication; able to express information clearly.
• Computer literate and familiar with related software.
• Good organization skills and legible penmanship.
• Ability to work full-time with potential weekends and evenings.
• Heavy lifting of 45 lbs or more and light lifting under 15 lbs.
• Standing, walking, kneeling; operating in heat, humidity, and noise.
• Work may be outdoors and indoors.

Responsibilities

• Perform onsite environmental tasks and apply environmental engineering principles to prevent, control and remediate issues.
• Assist in development of environmental remediation devices.
• Report to Environmental Manager and study project environmental reports and specs.
• Document performance and condition of erosion and sediment control and waste handling.
• Install, inspect/monitor and repair silt fences, sandbags and related controls.
• Monitor containers, equipment and deliveries for pests or hazardous materials.
• Maintain project logbooks and environmental observation forms; file reports and summaries.
• Ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
